Denver Mountain Parks had a successful bison auction March 3rd at Genesee Mountain Park raising a record amount. The charismatic bison and mountain parks staff once again captured some local media attention around the annual event.
You can read the Denver Post story, and watch a great short video about the auction, featuring Denver Mountain Parks Superintendent Dick Gannon, here:

A Most Colorado Occupation…
9NEWS’ “Next with Kyle Clark” also covered the auction before the event. In their “The Most Colorado Thing” segment, the show profiled Denver Parks and Recreation employee Matt Brown.
You can view the 9NEWS segment and hear a little about Matt’s 17 year career with the Denver Mountain Parks here:
From the sound of her tweets, it sounds like freshman Denver Post reporter Danika Worthington had a good time covering the auction.
We’re excited too. Genesee has been a major focal point for the mountain parks staff over the last few years, with the opening of the paved trail along I-70, new natural surface hiking trails within the park, improvements at the Beaver Brook trailhead (a new restroom, bison viewing area, and interpretive signs)… and that’s just the start of the list.
Denver Mountain Parks have also completed restoration of the Chief Hosa Shelter, a project completed as part of our foundation’s capital campaign to restore historic structures throughout the mountain park system.
As the weather warms up, we hope you’ll come out for a visit!
