DMP Book Update

Apr 7, 2013DMP book

The first-ever history book on Denver Mountain Parks moved one step closer to completion this week—files are now at the printers!

page33Bart Berger, chair of the Foundation, has preview copies that really let us see what the final version will look like—and it is impressive. Full color photos, 50 of them, by John Fielder, along with Then-and-Now pairs and historic images, bring the story of the parks to life. While we’re waiting for the final product the next few months, we’ll be sharing stories and previews on this website. Visit the dedicated book page.

Here’s a sample page, featuring a then-now view of Echo Lake Lodge. John visited more than 60 sites around the system to capture its landscape and buildings in “today” version, for comparison with the historic photos. (Enlarge with a click.)

Attendees at Friday night’s Party for Parks had an opportunity to see the preview book and order advance copies. The 10-by-11-inch format really showcases John’s photographs in this 144-page book, ensuring it will become a treasured addition to your library.

You, too, can download the pre-release order form and send it in to reserve your own copy—or use the online order button in the sidebar. You’ll be glad you did!

By the way, the Party for Parks fundraiser was a big success, and we’ll bring you a report on that as soon as we can. The Jeffco Outdoors Foundation has launched an initiative to help bring people to the parks to connect families to nature and promote healthy lifestyles!
