The Medicine Wheel is a cultural symbol with many teachings, rooted in the traditions of North America's Great Plains tribes.
The garden at Daniels Park is a home for native, medicinal plants and a place of cultural and ecological learning.
The plants here provide sources of fruit, pollen, nectar for birds, bees, and butterflies. The blooms in the garden compliment the colors in each section of the Medicine Wheel: Red, yellow, white, and black. The sections represent cardinal directions, seasons, and stages of life.
Opening Ceremony
Thank you for joining us!
On July 13th, after years of close collaboration, the garden’s stewards gathered alongside community members, elders, and youth.
With prayers, speeches, and dance we honored the proud partnerships and traditional ecological knowledge that made this garden possible.
