Money for Mountain Parks: Corporate Affiliates Raise $96,000 in 2017

Denver’s Mountain Parks will see significant benefit from the Denver Mountain Parks Foundation (DMPF) 2017 Corporate Affiliates Program fundraising activities. $96,473 was raised from Whiting Petroleum Corporation and three other businesses.

“I am very gratified the way these wonderful corporate citizens have stepped up to help sustain our wonderful Park system, that so benefits the children and families of Denver,” DMPF Chairman W. Bart Berger said in announcing the fundraising result in a meeting with Denver Mayor Michael Hancock on December 18, 2017.

Denver Mountain Parks Foundation (DMPF), is a non-profit entity formed in 2004 to support the Denver Department of Parks and Recreation in revitalizing the Mountain Parks system.

Whiting Petroleum and its employees together contributed $85,232 toward the campaign. The other businesses participating are Denver Beer Company, KOTA Longboards and Tryba Architects.

The money raised will enable the restoration of the historic shelters, well-houses and other significant architectural features found in the 14,100 acre Denver Mountain Parks system. This unique Mountain Park system was created in 1912 by a vote of the citizens of Denver.
